What Affects the Price?

This is the biggest factor. A small 8×10" portrait costs significantly less than a 36×48" canvas. For murals, pricing is typically calculated per square foot — usually $15–$50/sq ft depending on complexity.
2. Medium
Pencil drawings are the most affordable since materials cost less and the process is faster. Oil paintings are at the premium end because the materials are expensive and they require longer drying times between layers — some pieces take weeks to complete.
3. Complexity & Detail
A simple portrait with a plain background costs less than a highly detailed piece with multiple subjects, intricate backgrounds, or photorealistic detail. The more hours a piece takes, the higher the cost.
4. Number of Subjects
Each additional person, pet, or major element in the composition adds time and complexity. A couple's portrait will cost more than a single subject. A family of five, even more.
5. Reference Quality
High-quality reference photos make the process faster and the result better. If I need to composite multiple photos or work from low-resolution images, it adds time and therefore cost.
